Meet Carys Fyson…
Hello, I am Carys and I am the current Archive Trainee at the Record Office! I have been with the Record Office since September 2019 and it has been a truly beneficial learning journey. I spend most of my working week on the reception or on document production. For me, my favourite of the jobs is interacting with our visitors. I enjoy discussing their research journey with them and I really feel the joy they feel when they’ve found the answers they are looking for. As a trainee, I find it hard to pick one object I like the most because everything is new and exciting to me. If I had to pick, I’d say our collection of illustrated journals for cyclists called ‘ The Hub’ from 1899 (CR3547A/244). A good example of sporting history and its intersection with gender history, particularly the articles on women cyclists.
